Selank is a synthetic analog of tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunostimulant tetrapeptide. It has been extensively studied in Russia as an anxiolytic agent and is approved there for anxiety and asthenia treatment.
Published Russian research includes both animal studies and human clinical trials for generalized anxiety. Selank appears to slow enzymatic degradation of endogenous enkephalins and upregulates BDNF expression.
